Kim Hà Trần and Michelle Phạm are the initiators of the project. Their knowledge of food in the diaspora and Vietnamese cuisine is shaped by autobiographical experiences that they share with many other people with Vietnamese roots. As so-called “restaurant kids” who grew up in Germany, Kim Hà and Michelle developed the idea in 2024 to independently collect knowledge from the Vietnamese-German community, as knowledge about Vietnamese food and food culture is often stereotyped and associated with racist attributions.

Kim Hà Trần (she/her) works on projects at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and power hierarchies, such as environmental justice and racism. She is interested in, among other things, the effects of planning decisions on marginalized groups in transformation processes.

Michelle Phạm (she/her) is a communication designer who primarily designs for cultural and social institutions. In addition, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree focusing on the interplay between design, society, and the public, implementing projects that focus on the design of accessible spaces for encounters and community.
